Newborn Photography FAQs
When is the best time for a newborn session?
▸
I recommend scheduling your newborn session within the first 5-14 days after birth. This is when babies are sleepiest and easiest to pose.
Is the newborn photoshoot risky?
▸
No, safety is my top priority. I use gentle, baby-friendly posing techniques and ensure a warm, comfortable environment to keep your newborn safe at all times.
When do I schedule the session?
▸
I recommend booking your newborn session during pregnancy to secure availability. However, you can schedule your session anytime within the first 5-14 days after birth. I capture the newborn session only in the first 4 weeks after birth.
Do you do home services for newborn photoshoots?
▸
I do not offer home services for newborn sessions. My studio is fully equipped with professional setups, backdrops, lighting and a collection of props to ensure the best quality and experience for you and your baby.
How do we prepare and what should we bring to the photo session?
▸
To ensure a smooth and successful newborn photoshoot, keep your baby awake for a couple of hours before the session so they’ll be sleepy and relaxed during the shoot. Arrive 15 minutes early to settle in and feed your baby, as a full tummy helps them stay content. Bring essentials like diapers, wipes, extra formula (if bottle-feeding) and a pacifier if they use one. Dress them in easy-to-remove clothing to avoid disturbing their sleep when changing outfits. With these simple preparations, we’ll be able to capture the sweetest, most peaceful moments of your little one!
Can parents and siblings be included in the session?
▸
The parents or other family members can participate in the photo session depending on the package chosen.
How long does a newborn photoshoot last?
▸
Newborn photoshoots typically last 1 to 2 hours, allowing time for feeding, soothing and posing. I aim to finish within the scheduled time but can extend up to 20 minutes just in case the baby is not settled (it doesn't apply if you're late), depending on my availability that day. If your baby has colic or is very unsettled, I use calming techniques like swaddling and white noise to help.
What happens if I cancel the session?
▸
Please note that once booked, your session's date and time are fixed and cannot be changed. If you cancel, the deposit is non-refundable as your reserved slot prevents from accepting other bookings and covers preparation time.
What happens if I'm late?
▸
If you are up to 10 minutes late, I will use the remaining time for your session. However, if you arrive more than 15 minutes late, the session will be canceled as newborn sessions require a calm and relaxed environment with enough time for feeding, soothing and posing. To ensure the best experience, please plan to arrive on time.
Do I need to bring any outfits or props?
▸
I provide a selection of wraps, blankets and props. However, if you have a special outfit which you want to be used, feel free to bring it along.
Can I have more than one outfit for my baby?
▸
The number of outfits available are accordingly to the package you chose. In the Basic package only one outfit is available, for Standard package 2 outfits and for Premium package up to 3 outfits available.
What if my baby cries and doesn't settle?
▸
This is one of the most common concerns for parents. I have experience handling unsettled babies and can still capture beautiful images. If, in rare cases, your baby is unwell and we’re unable to get any photos, you won’t need to pay for the full session, we’ll only retain the deposit. Your baby’s comfort is always my top priority while creating precious memories.
Is a deposit required?
▸
Yes, in order for your session to be confirmed, I require a non-refundable £50 deposit which will be included in the final payment.
Are the prices negotiable?
▸
One of the most important thing for me is offering to all my clients the same service and the same treatment. The prices you read are final, which includes not only the time spent taking the photos but also the editing and post-production work to ensure each image is polished and beautiful. I aim to provide a high-quality experience and lasting memories for every family I work with. This rate is a fair price for studio photoshoots and it reflects the quality and dedication I put into each session, as everyone increased their prices I am trying to keep it the same.
When will we receive the photos?
▸
Please note that photos are not edited and provided on the same day. Each image is carefully edited to meet our quality standards and final delivery will take approximately 2 to 6 days depending of the quantity of the pictures chosen.
Do you have other services related to newborn or children?
▸
Yes, in addition to newborn photoshoots I offer: Half Birthday photoshoots, Sitter Baby photoshoots, One Year Birthday photoshoots and Smash the Cake photoshoots.
Do you own the copyright to the images?
